Xiang Silk Embroidery Procedure
Designing Design is the most essential step for each embroidery. Fine embroidery depends on good design. The designer transforms the inspiration of paintings, landscapes or wildlife, then sketches illustration on “special purpose paper”.
Transferring the Pattern Pinpricks of the illustration are made on the special purpose paper with tiny needles, and prints the illustration on the material (silk or satin).
Color Matching The embroiderer will gather the proper colored threads for the design from over 2000 different choices. The judgment for the colors to use depends on their expertise.
Hooping The material with the patterns from the design would be stretched tight on a hoop. Sometimes the embroiderer needs to change the different sizes of the hoop during the embroidering when it is necessary.
Embroidering Embroidering is the most important step of the procedure. A fine embroidery depends on the understanding, wisdom, experiences and techniques of the embroiderer. It takes over ten years for an embroiderer to become experienced.
Take off hooping When embroidering is finished, the embroiderer would take the material off from the hoop. The material has to be clean and neat.
Scalding Scalding the material at high temperature makes it look shiny and alive.
Mounting & Framing Mounting and framing is the last procedure to make the embroidery finished. The color and style have to match with the embroidery design.
All of the
procedures mentioned above are accomplished by human hands; no machines are
involved.
