Description: This is an embroidery recreation of a famous painting from modern famous scholar, calligrapher, brush painter and poet--Fan Zeng (1938-present). Fan Zeng was proficient in line drawing especially for figures in brush painting. His historical figure paintings are delicate, casual and elegant, lifelike and vivid.
The boy is leading the buffalo along to some place. He looks innocent, simple and unaffected. The boy's posture, the buffalo’s eyes, face, horns, skin with the wrinkles under its neck and the fur are detailed and the colors display light and shadow. The whole image seems true to life.
This is a well stitched piece of embroidery. Chinese artists are good at combining poetry, calligraphy, paintings and stamps, even some empty spaces perfectly together. All the Chinese characters and stamps were embroidered well here too.
