This is an embroidery recreation of a famous painting of a contemporary Chinese brush painter, who is well-known as Bevy of Beauties (a genre in traditional Chinese painting) -- Hua Sanchuan (1930-2004). There were many Bevy of Beauties paintings from famous painters at different periods from history, but his examples are well-known as poetry in painting.

The Bevy of Beauties in this embroidery painting are luxurious and magnificently dressed. They looked minute, pretty, quiet, elegant and focused. The image reflected the noble women who lived an easy and comfortable life with much freedom and leisure. This is a master embroidery piece with fine craftsmanship and smooth execution. The silk threads were extra thin in this embroidery piece and they were very densely stitched. Overlay stitches were used for their dresses, hair and many other sections.
