Maintenance to Embroidery
First, it is better to have soft-mounted than traditional paste mounted method, to avoid embroidery mildew contacting with moisture. Lying white absorbent paper or soft cloth on the back before soft or traditional paste mounting, can reduce mildew and absorb water for long time coming, also avoid colors from mounting plywood (if plywood had been used) transfer to embroidery art.
Second, it is better to keep embroidery art away from strong sunlight avoiding color fading. Avoid hanging them on humid walls for long time and avoid mildew. It is better to keep embroidery art inside of frames all the time.
Third, remove embroidery art out from their frames and wipe the spots with silk type fabric along the stitch-directions gently, if embroidery art have small amount of moisture, or partially appearance of color fading and moldy. Then iron embroidery art with low temperature and drying them (their back only) under sunlight. Iron them with appropriate temperature (for silk) if your embroidery art have minor balls appearance, or loosen stitches, and it is better to put relatively smooth sheets of paper to avoid damages form the iron to embroidery art surface.
Fourth, take your embroidery art to specialists if it is possible when they have lots mold on surface, largely loose stitches, or colors fade seriously.
Silk application Clean Conservation Tips
1) Use small amount of neutral detergent (acid detergent or light alkaline detergent, prefer silk special detergent). Separate silk application form other clothes when they need to be cleaned; Add few acetic drops into the water before you wash them and will make silk items shine more and brighter.
2) Soak silk application items into pre-stirred worm or cold water with detergent less than 5 minutes, and hand wash them gently. Try not dry clean and do not rub or squeeze
3) Dry them out by lying flat, or roll them up with white towel to press water out, and put them in shade avoiding straight sunlight
4) Iron them from back at silk temperature set when it is needed and damp.
