
General Information for Embroidery
Here is a simple flower pattern with some specific stitches labeled. Click on the pattern for larger image.
In general, you start to embroider the designs from lower layers to upper layers; further layers to closer layers. The colors are lighter near the edge and lighter near the inner parts, or lighter near the edge and darker near the inner parts. The colors are darker on the back of each petal, and lighter on the front side. Use Back Stitches for veins after finishing the stitches on the leaves. Here is a sample:

You don't need to add edge lines when you stitch the feathers of birds or scales of fish. If you handle color transition well the edge be visible clearly. Here is a sample:
