Description:
This is a silk embroidery recreation of a famous painting from Han Huang (Tang Dynasty, 723-787). Han Huang was well known at painting portraits, buffalo, donkeys and countryside landscapes. Masterpiece of this silk embroidery were with exquisite stitches.
Five buffalo have different postures. One of the them is eating grass, one is lifting its head up, one is turning its head back and one is walking slowly toward us. The image manifested the different personalities of each and was filled lively energy. Our embroidery captured Han Huang's painting of the buffalo with sluggish lines and emphasized the shapes and bone structures, especially the bright piercing eyes of the buffalo to make them looked strong and quite impressive. There are many stamps and they mean differently. The characters at right side mean "Five Buffalo Picture" and the characters at middle part are a poem.
